TEMPORARY TRANSFER OF CREDIT PROCESS - April 22 | 12:00 PM ET
Grading System
The Canadian Payroll Association continues to monitor the evolving impacts of COVID-19 (coronavirus), and take appropriate action to protect the health and safety of the payroll community. The well-being of our members, volunteers, affiliates, and stakeholders is our priority.
A number of post-secondary institutions have temporarily changed their grading system. As a result of this change, some students will be provided with the choice of being graded on a “pass/fail” or “credit received” basis instead of receiving the usual numerical grade. Generally the Canadian Payroll Association requires that students achieve a final mark of 65 per cent for each course. In light of these unprecedented circumstances, the Canadian Payroll Association will accept any approved transfer of credit course(s) from students during the Winter 2020 semester who were granted a “Pass” or “Credit Received” final result.
Course Transcript
The Canadian Payroll Association will accept transcripts or grade reports electronically from post-secondary institutions until schools reopen. Transcripts will only be accepted electronically if emailed directly from the post-secondary institution’s Office of the Registrar.
SELF PROCTORING - March 23, 2020 | 4:00 PM EDT
In order to protect the health and safety of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) students of the Canadian Payroll Association, we are temporarily implementing self-proctoring for all PCP course final exams in the wake of the COVID-19 (coronavirus).
To ensure social distancing, students are encouraged to input their own contact information when registering a proctor. The ‘Register Proctor’ button will continue to be on the ‘Your Courses’ page under the ‘Enter’ button.
On the day of the exam, the student will log in to the course in the usual manner. Once the student clicks on the ‘Final Exam’ link, the system will request the proctor code which the student will input to start the exam.
All other rules surrounding the writing of the final exam are still required to be followed. No other applications or browsers are permitted to be open during the exam, the exam is closed book, must be completed independently, within the time limit and using only the following aids: the current Student Information Guide (with no added written or inserted documentation), blank scrap paper, and a non-programmable calculator.
By entering your email address as the proctor, you acknowledge that you will follow the rules of the examination.
CURRENT STUDENTS - COURSES AND EXAMS - March 18, 2020 | 11:00 AM EDT
For all in-class students, given that most post-secondary institutions in Canada have made the difficult decision to shut temporarily, including transitioning their in-class students to online learning, we are permitting all PCP students to complete their course at home. This includes the completion of the midterm exam. Also, we are temporarily extending the final exam date in accordance with the schedules of each post-secondary institution.
If classrooms and/or test centres are closed for a prolonged period, the Association is also reviewing the requirements for virtual proctoring services, or another alternative.
We will communicate additional information as it becomes available.
