Bill Boyte, BA, LLB, LLM

Bill is the Executive Director of Employment Standards for British Columbia. In this role, Bill serves as the statutory authority tasked with administering the Employment Standards Act, which sets the minimum standards for wages and working conditions in most workplaces in BC. Bill is also accountable for the leadership and operational management of BC’s Employment Standards Branch; a province-wide program overseen by the Honourable Harry Bains, BC’s Minister of Labour.

Bill has a law degree from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School. He has been with the BC Public Service since 2007, and has spent his entire government career in the area of Labour and workplace regulation. Prior to joining the BC Public Service, Bill practiced law in both Nova Scotia and British Columbia.

Charting your Course to Resilience, Charmaine Hammond

Now, more than ever, resilience is necessary to maintain the wellness of a team, and business.  This keynote presentation explores what compassion fatigue is, and how to build resilience on a personal level as well as in a team.

Charmaine shares the story of her near death sailboat accident which is full of rich learning and practical resilience solutions. 

Participants will gain the following learning from this keynote:

  • Understanding compassion fatigue and why you may be at risk
  • Recognizing the warning signs of compassion fatigue and responding in a resilient way
  • Strategies to prevent compassion fatigue and build resilience both personally and in the workplace
  • Setting healthy boundaries
  • Addressing compassion fatigue before it impacts clients or the workplace
  • Talking about compassion fatigue in the workplace and appropriately supporting my colleagues
  • Daily actions to resilience
  • Promoting resilience within our team, and our personal life.
