Mike Sitland on the cover of DIALOGUE, July/August 2004

Highlights

  • 2004-2005 Chairman

Mike has shown continuous dedication to the Canadian payroll community over the years as a member, volunteer, leader and spokesperson.

Mike is a graduate of St. Mary's University and has over 15 years of experience in payroll and human resources. He currently holds the position of Supervisor of Payroll Operations at the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation.

Mike joined the CPA in 1994. His first volunteer position was as Atlantic Representative of the Communications Committee.  Later, he was the Deputy Director and Director of the Communications Committee. He has also served as the Regional Director of Atlantic Canada.

He was elected to the CPA Board of Directors in 2000 and was the Board Liaison for Provincial Government Relations.  In 2002, Mike was elected to the Executive Committee. Mike currently serves as a member on the CPA's Federal Government Relations Advisory Council (FGRAC).

From the May/June 2005 DIALOGUE article:
"The opportunity to meet different people and experience different things has broadened my horizons and helped me to better deal with the everyday situations one encounters in the payroll environment. Also, being the Chairman and a member of the CPA Board of Directors has allowed me the opportunity to participate in activities that have provided me with skills that have made me a more rounded individual and hopefully a more professional payroll practitioner... To anyone who thinks they can't be Chairman of the CPA, you can - I remember back to when Ann Turner-Murphy told me that one day I would be Chair and I didn't believe her. The opportunity is there for everyone, so if it's something you are interested in then seize the opportunity and know that dreams can come true."
