Larry Findlay at the 1992 National Conference in Toronto |
Highlights
- Joined the CPA in 1979 after attending the CPA's cross-country tour explaining federal source deductions and promoting simplification of the Record of Employment.
- Along with three other members, he helped form the Alberta/Saskatchewan/Northwest Territories Region.
- From 1982 to 1989, Larry served on the Board of Directors.
- Was instrumental in promoting the certification courses as pre-requisite for all payroll positions. "It's nice to see when you open the career section of the newspaper today and almost every payroll position has a CPA certification included with the requirement," said Larry in 1998.
- In the March/April 1998 issue of DIALOGUE he predicted, "The payroll professionals will become more like CMA's in the future. They will become specialists in the payroll field and also require in-depth knowledge of benefits, pensions, etc."
- Received an Honorary Member Award in 1987 for the high level of education and interaction with government in his region.
- "My involvement with the CPA has been lots of fun. I've gained experience from many different people. CPA has a good core of volunteers and that's what makes the job of director easier. Thanks to my involvement with CPA, I now appreciate the payroll professional a greater deal than before."
