Dan Maddux (left) receives the Special Contributor Award from CPA President Patrick Culhane at the National Conference in 2007 |
Highlights In 2006, the CPA introduced a new award called the “Special Contributor Award”. It recognizes an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the payroll profession. In 2007, the Association had the opportunity to acknowledge Dan Maddux of the American Payroll Association, who has been a champion of the payroll profession for over 25 years. He is a colleague, mentor and friend to many at the CPA, in the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries. He and his colleagues have attended most the CPA's Annual Conferences, exhibited at our trade shows and presented Professional Development Seminars. Over the past quarter century Dan's world-class association has grown to more than 22,000 members. As a sister association, the CPA has shared many of his achievements, and now I'd like to touch on a few. In 1995, his organization was the first recipient of the CPA Partner Award recognizing outstanding assistance to us. In 2002, the CPA recognized his association's development of the world's first payroll training centre. In 2003, his organization celebrated the CPA's 25th Anniversary, with an original painting. In 2007, the APA is celebrated a very special year – their silver anniversary under Dan's exemplary leadership.
