Highlights

  • 2006-2007 Chairman

Alan has shown continuous dedication and professionalism to the Canadian payroll community over his 16 years as a member, subject matter expert, leader, spokesperson and friend.

Alan has been involved with the CPA since 1993, when he joined the Federal Government Relations Advisory Council for seven years, including two as Chair. During that time, the Council provided CPA input on a variety of topics to government officials including the change from Unemployment Insurance to Employment Insurance and Tax On Net Income (TONI).

Alan was elected to the CPA Board of Directors in 2000, and in 2005, he was elected to the Executive Committee progressing to Chairman.

In 2007, he chaired the Task Force that developed CPA's first payroll guidelines publication on "Payroll Continuity Planning."

From the May/June 2007 DIALOGUE article:
"The strategic business plan is what drives the CPA's continued growth and development; however, it also acts as a compass for the direction in which the Association needs to go. This past year, the Board of Directors has been able to focus on the key elements of the plan and, as a result, maintain a focused approach. In addition, it helps that the professional and dedicated individuals who make up the Board and the management team have the same priorities and are on the same page - working collaboratively, we are able to serve the best interests of our members... The CPA's Board of Directors is made up of professional and dedicated individuals who share the same priorities and vision. However, what I didn't mention is that these individuals know how to work together. Over the past year, I have discovered how the collegial relationship among its board members is extremely important to the CPA's success, for a great deal is accomplished when working in unison."
