This course is the first core payroll course in the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification program.
Students must first register with the post-secondary institution and pay the tuition fees. Students must also register with the Canadian Payroll Association and pay the Association's course fee and membership fee, if applicable.
Upon completion of Payroll Compliance Legislation (PCL), you will have a thorough understanding of payroll compliance requirements. You will be able to:
- Describe payroll’s objectives and stakeholders.
- Identify an employer/employee relationship.
- Apply federal and provincial legislation related to payroll including:
- The Canada Pension Plan;
- The Employment Insurance Act;
- The Income Tax Act;
- Employment standards legislation;
- Worker’s Compensation Acts;
- Quebec-specific legislation.
- Communicate payroll compliance requirements to various stakeholders.
Please note, we only ship the course material to the students once the post-secondary institution confirms there are sufficient enrolments for the course to proceed. Upon such confirmation, the course material is shipped by FedEx to your preferred mailing address and should arrive 5-10 days prior to the start of the course. Both an overall grade of 65% and a mark of at least 65% on the final exam are required to pass the course. Students will receive their transcript 4 to 6 weeks after the official end date for the course. For confidentiality reasons, marks cannot be given by phone, fax or email.

Cancellation Policy: Students who withdraw within the first three weeks of the term will receive a full refund from the Canadian Payroll Association, less a withdrawal fee of $150.00, plus applicable taxes.
Maximum Course Attempts: Students are permitted a maximum of three attempts at any individual Canadian Payroll Association course. In the event that a student fails a given PCP course three times (through any of the classroom, online or Challenge study options), they will no longer be permitted to register for the course.
