Topic Description
Are you in full compliance with employment and labour standards
on how you produce employee pay statements for your organization? Does
your organization follow industry standards and best practices?
Payroll practitioners are responsible for transforming legislation
into organizational policy and practice, particularly in the area of
pay statements. Given the many multifaceted aspects of employment and
labour standards legislation that deal with pay statements, ensuring
compliance can become quite challenging.
The production, issuance and distribution of pay statements are
governed by federal and provincial legislation. This web seminar will
review the laws, looking at summary charts of the legislation in the
various jurisdictions. It will also explore the CPA’s Pay
Statement Guidelines, discussing best practices and suggested formats
and templates based on the input from seasoned payroll professionals
and CPA members who contributed to the Pay Statement Guidelines.
Join us to learn valuable information and insights, which will help
you assess the current practices in your organization for pay
statements, and develop more effective company policies and procedures.
You will be given guidelines for benchmarking when designing or
implementing an in-house payroll solution for pay statements and
related recommendations to prepare for a payroll audit.
The session will cover the legislation related to pay statements in
all jurisdictions across Canada (federal, provincial and territorial),
looking specifically at the following issues:
- When to distribute pay statements
- How to distribute pay statements
- Privacy considerations
- What information should appear on the pay statement
- What information should not appear on the pay
statement
- Best practices in producing an organization’s pay
statements
This informative 90-minute session will include a 40-minute
presentation, responses to pre-submitted questions and an open forum to
ask your questions to our facilitators.
Participants are encouraged to submit their questions in advance and
can do so by emailing syeda@payroll.ca by September 1,
2010.
