Topic Description
Are you aware of all of the recent developments at Service Canada related to the electronic Record of Employment (ROE) and the administration of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits?
The Record of Employment Web (ROE Web) is Service Canada’s response to a long-standing request from employers to facilitate the ROE submission.
Benefit for Employers:
ROE Web minimizes the risk of errors because it validates data transferred to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), saving time for employers. The majority of ROEs are now submitted to Service Canada electronically. Electronic submission of ROEs has contributed to improved services for both employers and EI benefits claimants. Part of the discussion will focus on common errors to avoid when submitting ROEs.
This session will also look at the added value of My Service Canada Account (MSCA). Employees who have registered with the MSCA online service may view and print a copy of their electronic ROEs on the same day the employer submits these ROEs to Service Canada. By using MSCA, employees can also update their profile information related to EI claims, Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS).
This seminar is designed for payroll professionals who are involved in the ROE process. It will give them a clear understanding of the most recent enhancements to the electronic ROE production and initiatives related to EI administration that impact the employer community. It will also outline the advantages of submitting ROEs through ROE Web. Topics will include:
- An overview of the ROE Web application
- Recent changes to EI Regulations (Regulation 19(3))
- Demo of the ROE Web (one-off and ROE payroll extract file)
- The accuracy of ROEs
- My Service Canada Account

About the Speaker
Léo Gaulin is a Program Manager with the E-ROE Employers Services at Service Canada and is located at National Headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario. He started working for Service Canada in December 2004 as a Client Services Specialist. Since July 2007, he has been active with the ROE Web Strategy and activities aimed at promoting the ROE Web.
Léo has extensive knowledge of the ROE Web application and the ROE Web registration process. He provides guidance to regional field offices, the ROE Web Business Registration Centre, the ROE Web Business Service Centre Helpdesk and most importantly, you, the employers.
