Topic Description
On January 1, 2011, most organizations in Quebec will be required to comply with the requirements of the Pay Equity Act as it applies to their operations. Under the new provisions of the Act, companies subject to the law that have not completed a pay equity plan will have until December 31, 2010, to do so, while those that have completed their plans will be required to evaluate their maintenance of pay equity by the same date. Organizations with 10 or more employees that are newly subject to the Act will have four years to comply.
During this web seminar, our subject matter expert will provide a brief overview of pay equity requirements under the Act as they relate to payroll, including the following:
- Criteria that establishes whether the Act applies to your organization
- The impact on your organization
- How to get ready and what start dates apply to you
- Pay equity versus equal pay – avoiding confusion
- Payroll withholding and reporting requirements, including the special treatment of interest payments
- Tools tailored to company’s needs
- Suggestions and best practices for implementation
This informative 90-minute session will include a 40-60 minute presentation, responses to pre-submitted questions and an open forum to ask your questions to our facilitator.

About the Speaker
Caroline Bernard, PCP, CHRP, has been in the Human Resources field for 15 years, primarily in the services and manufacturing sectors. Her experience ranges from HR best practices and consulting to leadership development. As Human Resources Manager at Wolverine World Wide, she is leading the HR function for the company's Canadian operations.
Caroline has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal, including certifications in Human Resources Management and Business Administration. She is a member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés and holds the designation of Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP).
