Changes to Ontario Employer Health Tax (EHT) to come into effect on January 1, 2014
The following changes to EHT were announced in the Ontario Provincial Budget on May 2, 2013
EHT exemption to be increased to $450,000 effective January 1, 2014
To provide greater Employer Health Tax (EHT) relief to small businesses, the Province is proposing to increase the amount of annual payroll that is exempt from the tax from $400,000 to $450,000.
EHT exemption eliminated for private sector employers with annual payrolls in excess of $5 million
The Province is proposing to eliminate the EHT exemption for private-sector employers with payrolls over $5 million.
